Find link opportunities from Codex
The slow part of link building is the list: searching Google for every "best X" and "X alternatives" query, opening each post, checking the site isn't a link farm and finding who edits it.
BacklinkGenie does that search for you. From your assistant you start a run, then ask for the results in whatever shape you need: highest Domain Rating first, only comparison pages, or only sites with a verified contact.
The prompt
Paste this into Codex and change the details to fit.
Read README.md so you know what we sell, then run the BacklinkGenie agent for our site and list the 10 best prospects with DR, fit reason and contact status.
What happens
-
1
You ask for a run
The assistant calls run_agent for your site. Each pitch it writes counts toward your monthly emails; searching and reading the report are included.
-
2
BacklinkGenie searches
It runs Google searches built from your product profile, opens each ranking post, checks the site's quality and Domain Rating, and finds the editor's email.
-
3
You get the report
get_prospect_report returns every prospect with its DR, the query and position it ranks for, contact status and a one-line reason it fits.
Read README.md so you know what we sell, then run the BacklinkGenie agent for our site and list the 10 best prospects with DR, fit reason and contact status.
Read README.md: Margin is a note-taking app for researchers. The run found 34 prospects. Best 10 by DR are below; 7 have a verified contact. The top one is zapier.com's "best note-taking apps" post.
Tips
- Ask for the filters you care about in plain words: "only DR 40+", "only posts in the top 10", "only ones with a verified contact".
- If the list drifts off-niche, update your product profile first (see the job below) and run again.
- Runs keep going in the background. You can ask "is the run done?" later in the same chat.

More you can do from Codex
Same rules as the dashboard
Codex works on the same account, sites and mailboxes as the BacklinkGenie dashboard. Pitches wait for approval unless you've turned on Autopilot, every edit goes through the quality check, and sending stays inside each mailbox's daily limit. See how BacklinkGenie works or compare plans.
Questions people ask
How many prospects does a run find?
It depends on your niche and how many posts rank for searches around your product. A broad category can return dozens per run; a narrow B2B niche returns fewer, better-matched ones. We don't pad the list with weak sites to hit a number.
Does a run send anything?
No. A run finds prospects and drafts pitches. Pitches wait for approval unless you've turned on Autopilot in the dashboard.
Do I need an API key to use BacklinkGenie from Codex?
Yes. Create one in BacklinkGenie under Settings → MCP; keys start with bg_live_. MCP access is on the Growth and Agency plans.
