Run link outreach from Claude Code

Add BacklinkGenie with one command and Claude Code can read your changelog or docs, import the posts you want to be listed in, and walk you through today's pitches and replies.

Set it up

Create an API key

Create the key in BacklinkGenie under Settings → MCP. Keys start with bg_live_ and are shown once. MCP access is on the Growth and Agency plans.

Add the server

Run this once in your terminal. Use --scope user to make it available in every project.

Check it

Run claude mcp list, or type /mcp inside Claude Code, to see BacklinkGenie and its tools.

Start claude and ask. It asks permission before calling tools that change anything.

What stays the same as the dashboard

Claude Code works on the same account, sites and mailboxes as the BacklinkGenie dashboard, so you can switch between them freely. Pitches still wait for approval, every edit goes through the quality check, and sending stays inside each mailbox's daily limit. Questions people ask

Where does Claude Code store the key?

In its MCP config (user or project scope, depending on --scope). Use user scope for personal keys so they don't end up in a shared repo.

Can I remove it later?

Run claude mcp remove backlinkgenie, and revoke the key in BacklinkGenie under Settings → MCP.

Does it work in scripts or CI?

Yes, any MCP client that can send a Bearer header works. Keep approvals with a person: approve_draft and send_reply should only run after a human has read the email.
