Automate link outreach with n8n

Connect n8n's MCP Client Tool node to BacklinkGenie and give an AI Agent node access to your outreach. Good for reporting and routing: weekly numbers to Slack, reply alerts to your team, or importing post URLs from a Google Sheet.

Set it up

Create an API key

Create the key in BacklinkGenie under Settings → MCP. Keys start with bg_live_ and are shown once. MCP access is on the Growth and Agency plans.

Add an AI Agent node

In your workflow, add an AI Agent node with the chat model you use.

Attach the MCP Client Tool

Add the MCP Client Tool as one of the agent's tools and fill in these settings.

What stays the same as the dashboard

n8n works on the same account, sites and mailboxes as the BacklinkGenie dashboard, so you can switch between them freely. Pitches still wait for approval, every edit goes through the quality check, and sending stays inside each mailbox's daily limit. Questions people ask

Does n8n need the HTTP Request node instead?

No. The MCP Client Tool node speaks MCP directly. You can also call the endpoint with plain JSON-RPC over HTTP if you're building something custom.

Should a workflow approve pitches automatically?

We recommend against it. Outreach goes out under your name, so keep approvals with a person. Autopilot in BacklinkGenie is the supported way to send without per-email approval, and it still applies the quality check and sending limits.

Which plan do I need?

MCP access is on the Growth and Agency plans. n8n itself can be self-hosted or n8n Cloud.
