Manage your outreach blocklist from Gemini CLI
Some sites should never get a pitch from you: competitors, partners you talk to directly, a publication you're already negotiating with, or a site that asked you to stop.
Tell your assistant once and those domains go on your blocklist. The agent skips them in every run and import from then on.
The prompt
Paste this into Gemini CLI and change the details to fit.
Read partners.json and add every partner domain to the BacklinkGenie blocklist. Then check the prospect report and skip anything on those domains.
What happens
-
1
Block domains
add_to_blocklist adds domains the agent must never contact, for that site.
-
2
Skip single prospects
skip_prospect removes one prospect from the list without blocking the whole domain.
-
3
Check the report
get_prospect_report shows what's left, so you can confirm nothing blocked is still queued.
Read partners.json and add every partner domain to the BacklinkGenie blocklist. Then check the prospect report and skip anything on those domains.
Read partners.json: 9 domains. All 9 are on the blocklist now. 2 prospects in the report were on partner sites; both skipped.
Tips
- Block competitors' domains on day one, so their own blogs never get a pitch.
- Use skip for "not this post" and block for "never this site".
- The blocklist is on the Growth and Agency plans. A built-in never-contact list (major platforms, government sites and similar) applies to everyone.

Same rules as the dashboard
Gemini CLI works on the same account, sites and mailboxes as the BacklinkGenie dashboard. Pitches wait for approval unless you've turned on Autopilot, every edit goes through the quality check, and sending stays inside each mailbox's daily limit. See how BacklinkGenie works or compare plans.
Questions people ask
Does BacklinkGenie block anything by default?
Yes. There's a built-in list of domains we never pitch, plus anyone who has unsubscribed or asked not to be contacted. Your blocklist adds to it.
Can I unblock a domain?
Yes. Open Prospects → Blocklist in the dashboard and remove it.
Do I need an API key to use BacklinkGenie from Gemini CLI?
Yes. Create one in BacklinkGenie under Settings → MCP; keys start with bg_live_. MCP access is on the Growth and Agency plans.
